The Harden Rugby Club is proud to announce the signing of Adam Walsh for the 2010 season. Adam is married to Erin, daughter of Mark and Lyn Douglass and can be seen working hard in the local Amcal Chemist. Erin can also notably be seen plying her trade as a physiotherapist in the Kruger Medical Centre. Adam has an absolute wealth of knowledge and experience in the 15 man game. He is traditionally a prop and has played much of his representative football in that position however can play any position in the forward pack.
Adams list of representative duties started when he was selected for the Australian schoolboys’ side at the age of 17. He then went on to represent at the U19 and U21 levels for his country whilst playing for Gordon in the Sydney Shute Shield competition.
Adam then moved to Randwick where he won a premiership in 2004 as well as being contracted to the NSW Waratahs.
2005 saw injuries bring his year to an abrupt end but in 2006 The Red Devils were lucky enough to snag him thanks to prospective father in law Mark Douglass. Adam was an integral part of the premiership winning side against Goulburn.
Adam received a degree in human movement and went on to do his masters in pharmacy at The University of Canberra, whilst Erin was undertaking her degree in physiotherapy. Adam and Erin wed in 2007 and continued to finish their studies before relocating fulltime to Harden earlier this year.
Erin is also an accomplished sportsperson representing Australia in waterpolo between 2004 and 2007 and was unlucky to miss selection for Beijing for the 2008 Olympics due to a severe shoulder injury. She also won the Australian female sportsperson of the year in 2005.
Harden won two first grade and one reserve grade premierships between 2004 and 2006 and Adam hopes that next year will again be successful after the last three years were quite difficult for the Devils. It is hoped that prospective players will start jogging and looking after the fitness levels so that we can hit the ground running in 2010.
Some players are already exercising on Tuesday and Friday at Roberts Park at 6pm and anybody can attend. No doubt someone of Adams experience will bring a lot of players out of the woodwork.
