The Southern Inland Junior Rugby Competition for 2010 kicked off under glorious autumn weather on Sunday May 2 with the U13’s side chalking up a solid win.
With a depleted side due to several players being unavailable, Harden lined up against a confident Young. However within five minutes of the whistle Harden put their stamp on the game with the back line skill emerging to set up a try down the right wing from Tom Lenehan. New recruit Jarrod Prosser then converted to add another two points.
Harden subsequently dominated the first half and whenever they won possession applied pressure to Young’s defence and through quick hands and footwork ran in an additional four tries and converted three.
The second half saw Harden continue to put their stamp on the game as the forwards won their share of scrums and possession at the rucks and mauls, setting up some impressive running rugby from the backs.
Harden kept Young scoreless after running in nine tries and converting six to win 57-0 with five tries to Jarrod Prosser, two Tom Lenehan, and singles to Justin Stewart and new recruit Royce Tout.
Tries were successfully converted by Tom, Jarrod, Lane Gaudie and Nick Cusack who helped to make up the Harden numbers. Well done to the team.
Harden U13’s are still recruiting players for this season which only includes seven games due to the increased number of bye’s this year.
