Two Boys from Murrumburrah Public School have been selected for the NSW Open Primary Schools Rugby League Team.
This selection is indeed a great achievement for the boys from a small country primary school of 167 students.
Jared Prosser and Justin Stewart from Murrumburrah Public School attended a week long camp in Narrabeen during the first week of the recent school holidays.
They were selected for the NSW team from 34 boys who had been selected for this development camp from the NSW Open Primary Rugby League Carnival in Griffith, held from June 30 to July 2. Jared and Justin were in the team that represented The Riverina Region in this Griffith state selection carnival.
The boys then travelled to Tweed Heads for a NSW state team training camp to prepare for the National Australian Open Primary Rugby League Championships which will be held in Canberra from August 9 to August 16.
Justin is a clever, elusive ball runner and hard skilled tackler. He plays lock for the Murrumburrah Public School opens rugby league team and has been selected to play hooker/dummy half in the NSW team. Justin is always running in support of the ball carrier and is a great, quick thinking team player.
Jared is a quick thinking damaging, decisive and fast runner of the ball who plays five eighth with distinction in the school team. He also has a clever side step, is a punishing defender and a great team player. Jared is not afraid to kick early and put the opposition defence in turmoil. Jared has been selected as an interchange player in the NSW team.
We wish Justin Stewart and Jared Prosser and the NSW team great success at the Australian Rugby League Open Primary School Championships in Canberra.
To add to the Harden connection of the team the NSW coach, Gavin Holmes, is a cousin of June Howe and family.
To catch Justin, Jared and the whole NSW team in action go along to West Belconnen Leagues Club in Canberra on the following days and support the Blues. Sunday 9th August 1pm V QLD, Monday 10th 1pm V VIC, Tuesday 11th 12 noon v ACT, Wednesday 12th 10am v ACT Invitational, Friday and Saturday intra-pool and cross pool games TBA.
