Last week Oliver Fairfield-Smith, Josh Barker, Lane Gaudie and Mark Thorsby represented Murrumburrah Public School in the Riverina team at the NSW State Rugby Union Championships.
The team went extremely well winning three of their six games.
All boys played every game and Oliver and Josh both scored tries.
They played very well in a variety of positions with Oliver and Mark in the forwards and Josh and Lane in the backs.
It was Lanes second time at the championships and the team was made up of boys from Booligal, Wagga, Cootamundra, Young, Tumut, Holbrook, Griffith and Harden.
The big distances between towns made getting together for training very difficult but they managed two training sessions before the championships.
Many of the teams they played against had been training as a team twice a week for several months so this made their achievements even greater.
Several boys in the team were looked at for state selections and the Brumbies senior staff also attended looking for future talent in the area.
The boys bonded well as a team and enjoyed the new friendships they made.
They were praised highly by their coaching staff for their commitment, achievements and behaviour and a good time was had by all.
