Last Saturday the Harden Hawks had a resounding victory over last placed Gordon Highlanders 72-0. The Highlanders tried hard but were no match for the Hawks who had improved greatly on their previous performance. It is a credit to the Highlanders that they keep turning up for games, and the boys were very pleased with the hospitality shown to them at the Country Club after the game.
This report would take up half the paper if all the game plays were described in detail so the try scorers only are listed namely: Graham Murray, Nathan Schofield, Josh Glover, Adam Byrne, Lewis Grange, Tyson Astill, Michael Pickham, Daniel Drew, Luke Brown and Graham Moorby. All played well but the standout was Daniel Drew who had a fantastic game and was awarded the BP Man of the Match and the Coach’s award. The Player’s Player was shared by Michael Pickham and Mathew Stadtmiller, a great effort by both players as they have not played as many games as the others.
This week the Hawks play Boomanulla who had a bye last week so they will be raring to go. There is still a chance Boomanulla could make the Top 5 however they would have to win at least 2 of their remaining games and Goulburn Exchange lose. Then it could come down to for and against. Boomanulla are always a much tougher side on their home ground and the Hawks will have to play at their renowned best. This game starts at the earlier time of 11.45am and the bus is leaving the Country Club at 8.45am. Numbers are limited so contact Jodie early if you want to catch the bus.
The Football Club is holding a trivia night on September 5, at the Country Club. As well as trivia, there are going to be lots of fun activities including a footballer’s fashion parade and auction. Scott Collins is going to be the auctioneer and Nic Nadycz is helping with music trivia. The cost is $10 a head and table bookings for groups of 8 can be made. Contact Jodie Pollard or Christina Heath for bookings. Don’t worry if you cannot make a table, bookings can be made for 1 person or 20.
Supporters are also encouraged to get their teams organised for the 3 person Ambrose at the Country Club on 30 August. This is after our last home game against Braidwood which could decide where the first semi -final is held.
Until next week, go the Hawks!
