Hawks battle with Bears

04 Sep, 2009 07:31 AM
The Harden Hawks played third placed Braidwood Bears at McLean Oval last Saturday and had a good 26-12 victory.

Both sides started well but the Hawks were the first to score after five minutes when Jason Pollard received a good pass from Luke Brown which was converted by Abed Atallah. The Hawks defence was again dominant and the mighty Hawks did not allow Braidwood to score in the first half.

Nathan Schofield, Abed Atallah and Luke Brown each scored tries and with two conversions, the Hawks led 22-0 at half time.

The Hawks started well in the second half and with an early try to Duncan Stewart looked like building a big score. However, to Braidwood’s credit they fought back with 2 converted tries resulting in a final score of 26-12.

Overall it was a good hit out by the Hawks particularly in the first half. They will appreciate the rest this week which should enable a number of injured players to recover in time for the home semi final at McLean on the September 12. Training will be on Wednesday and Friday nights if you want to see the boys in action. This week the first semi final is at Binalong with the elimination final between Bungendore and Goulburn and the qualifying semi between SW Brahmans and Braidwood.

Bookings are still being taken for the Trivia night this Saturday at the Country Club. Contact Christina or Jodie for details.

The Committee wishes our juniors in the Under 10’s and Under 12’s the very best of luck in their finals at Temora on Saturday. Go the Junior Hawks!

Until next week~

Christina
