The Maestro Singles have now reached the finals stage after last weekends matches with the quarter and semi finals of the minor grade and the semi finals of the major grade to be played on Friday and Saturday nights starting at 7pm, some great bowls should be witnessed by spectators.
Results of matches played last weekend were as follows:
Friday night -
Kevin Black (Coota CC) defeated Pat Perceval (Harden), 31/21.
Kevin got off to a great start to lead Pat 16/4 after only ten ends, however Pat hit back winning six ends on the trot picking up 13 shots to head Kevin off and lead 17/16.
The next few ends saw the scores level at 19/19 and 20/20.
It was then that Kevin gained a break on Pat allowing him only one more shot before going on to win comfortably.
Pat Corcoran (Boorowa Rec) defeated Denis Smith (Stock), 31/30.
A real cliff hanger with both bowlers playing excellent bowls extremely close throughout as the scores indicate.
On the 31st end when leading 29/26, Denis looked as though he might get away with the match however Pat fought back strongly picking up four shots to lead Denis 30/29.
Denis then levelled at 30/30 but it was Pat who got the money when he scored the one shot required.
Chris Rose (Coota CC) defeated David Bateup (Coota CC), 31/29.
A real marathon of 41 ends for the Cootamundra Country Clubmates.
This was another close match with the lead changing on several occasions but it was Chris who was just a bit more consistent than David to win narrowly.
Bob Winter (Coota Ex Serv) defeated Terry Ricketts (Harden), 31/28.
Another close encounter - Bob led clearly 15/4 early in the match, however Terry struck a purple patch winning six ends on the trot to trail by two shots at 16/14.
Terry then got away from Bob to lead him 22/16 when he picked up another eight shots.
Bob replied by scoring 10 shots to Terry's two to lead 26/24.
Terry again reached the lead 27/26 when he scored three shots on the 30th end.
The next two ends saw the scores level at 28/28 but it was Bob who finished the stronger to go on and win a close one.
Saturday night -
Don O'Neill (Coota CC) defeated Glen Mogg (Stock), 31/7.
An easy one for Don as he got to the front early and went right on with the job to win easily.
Glen tried hard but was never in the hunt.
Adam New (Coota Ex Serv) defeated George Jeffrey (Stock), 31/16.
Adam got away to a huge lead of 18/3 early against the South West District President and although George tried hard he was never in it as Adam went on to win easily.
Cliff Traynor (Young) defeated George Somerville (Young), 31/22.
For the first half of the match there was little in it with both bowlers playing well with the scores level at 9/9.
Cliff then got a break on George to lead him 19/9.
George was never able to recover and Cliff went on to win easily.
