Les Curtis is the 2010 Club Singles Champion after an easy win over Terry Ricketts in the final played at the club on Saturday. Les has been in super form throughout the competition and took that form into the final. Terry has also been in great form and although he played well in the final, was no match for Les over the latter stages of the match. The match was very even for the first 18 ends where the score was 13/13, however Terry got stuck on 13 while Les raced to 24. Terry then picked up five shots to get to 18, from then on it was all Les as he raced away picking up the seven shots required to win 31/18.
There was also two pairs championship matches played and results were as follows:
Peter Burns and Paul Burns defeated Tony Fisher and Jake Fisher 28/11.
An easy one for the Burns brothers over the father and son combination. Peter and Paul were always in front and although Jake and Tony tried hard they were never in it.
Tom Apps and Alex Bomm defeated Allen Tobin and Tom Allen 21/19.
Tom and Alex got out of jail. They were in front right up until the 16th end where Allen and Tom took over to win three ends on the trot to lead 19/14 with three ends to play and looked home. However, Tom and Alex fought back strongly to win the last three ends to pip Allen and Tom on the post to win narrowly.
In the semi final of the Stockinbingal mixed pairs tournament played last Friday night, Tom and Robyn Apps defeated Terry and Jenny Ricketts 21/10 and will now play Bruce Gillies and Sonia Corcoran in the final on a date yet to be decided.

There was a rumour floating around at Young last Sunday that one of our prominent lady bowlers decided to help hubby by putting the club stickers on his bowls. Unfortunately, she put them on the wrong side causing him to put one down on the wrong bias. I understand all is forgiven as he had a good win.
