JUST two of the four minor singles championship matches listed were played over last weekend and the results were as follows

Rod |cooper defeated Doug Hawkins 31/12

Rod is a most promising young bowler and was in fine form against Doug. He got away to a 13/0 lead before Doug got on the board. And when he did he won a string of ends to peg Rod back to a two shot lead at 14/12. However, from that point on it was all Rod as he raced away to win easily. Doug played some nice bowls but was never in it over the last few ends.

Warren Chesworth defeated Chris Madden 31/25

A marathon match played over 41 ends and there was little between the two players at the finish.

Warren looked as though he would go on to an easy win early in the match when he led 16/6. However Chris fought back strongly, playing some nice bowls to get within three shots of Warren at 27/24 late in the match, but Warren was able to hang on for a good win.
