Minor Singles Saturday:

Jim Deacon defeated David Cassidy 31/26

A very good game with little between the two bowlers. After 20 ends, David had a lead of seven shots 18/11 over Jim, however Jim reduced the lead to one shot over the next three ends when he picked up six shots. Another four ends and the score was level at 21/21. It was here that Jim got a break on David that would win him the match. Jim won six ends to David’s four to go onto a four shot win.

Pairs Championship Sunday

morning:

Terry Ricketts and Brian Madden defeated Jim Deacon and Greg Fisher 24/16.

The competition favourites had little trouble in getting home in this match. They were always in front and were never going to get beaten. Jim and Greg were not expected to win, however played some nice bowls and it was a very good effort for them to get within eight shots of the

winners.

Sunday afternoon:

The No.5 pennant team played the No.7 team to get a bit of practice in for the upcoming play-offs of the Zone 8 pennant at Temora where the No.5 pennant team will play Walla Walla at 1.15pm Saturday June 19. The No.7 team will travel to the Wagga RSL to take on Barmedman also on Saturday June 19 at 1.15pm. Results of the trials played were as follows:

No.5: Rod James, Tom Apps and Tom Allen defeated No.7: Jim Deacon, Greg Fisher and Terry Hocking 27/12.

No.5: Terry Ricketts, David Bodell, John Curtis and Peter Burns defeated No.7: Danny Vincent, Alex Bomm, Colin Lawrence and Warren Chesworth 22/9.

No.5: Brian Madden, Les Curtis, David Cassidy and Paul Burns lost to No.7: David Walker, Bob Owen, John Balcomb and Anthony Burns 14/13.

I would like to thank all the bowlers who turned up for the practice and also those bowlers who filled in for the bowlers who were unable to make it.
