Celebrating 50 years of Women’s Bowls

05 Nov, 2009 07:15 AM
THE local lady bowlers were well rewarded for all the hard work they put in organising their President’s and 50th Birthday Celebrations Day when all South West District Clubs were represented plus Gundagai and Yass.

The South West District Lady President Lorraine Bales was also in attendance along with her team on Yvonne Murphy and Glenda Rose. One game of bowls was played in the morning before knocking off for a delicious lunch dished up by Anna of the Jack High Restaurant.

At the official part of the day our lady bowlers were congratulated by Bowling Club President Tony Wadden on their organisation of the day and also their 50th birthday.

Several other speakers also congratulated the ladies. A feature of the day was when President Robyn Apps presented long time secretary Theresa Peet with life membership as a reward for the many years of hard work she has put in for the ladies bowlers.

A shocked Theresa said she was greatly appreciative of the award.

The ladies thanked the many sponsors who helped make the day such a success and they were as follows; Lyn and Robert Fitzpatrick “Peter Falls”, Kingsvale where you get the best fruit in the district will be opening soon. Tony and Judy Manchester “Kingsvale” of fat lamb fame, the Krugar Trust, Harden Bowling Club, Men’s Bowls Committee, Harden NAB, Harden Butchery, Rod Cooper Butchery, Harden Hunting Club, Rod Ceeney, 5 Star Supermarket, Helen McKay, Brian Madden and the House of Honey.

The winner of the bowls was a Stockinbingal team consisting of Beverley Black, Karen Wright and Wendy Deacon.
