LAST Sunday the Harden club hosted the first round of this season’s Scott Fuller Shield with Temora and Young clubs our guests and opponents.
We fielded an impressive 20 pairs while Young were represented by 14 pairs and Temora were represented by 13 pairs. All players were full of praise regarding the magnificent condition of our golf course, so those responsible should feel justifiably proud of their efforts.
The best score for Harden was 48 points recorded by a proud as punch Ron Fuller and his sidekick Garth Webb. Runners-up were Graham Sturgiss and Karen Glover with 47 points.
The winning score for the Temora club was 46 points recorded by T. Krause and C. Cole with next best being the 45 points recorded by R. Ballard and R. Bradtke.
The players from Young must appreciate our course as three scores of 50 or more points came from their players. A.Hanrahan and M. Hanrahan returned the best score of the day with their 52 points to lead the Young contingent with runners-up M. McKnight and R. Terry gaining second place after a countback.
As the scoring for this competition is now based on an average of each club’s scores the Young club holds a lead over Harden with Temora third.
Young’s average score was 44.93, Harden is on 41.15 and Temora is on 40.69.
This competition now has a break over Christmas with the next round to be played at Temora on January 29 and the final round at Young on February 13.
