Peter and Jeanette Elliott mixed foursomes champions

22 Jul, 2010 08:17 AM
The 2010 Harden Mixed Foursomes Championship was concluded on Sunday with all 11 pairs returning for round two.

While mixed foursomes is an event where ‘sorry about that’ is the most often used form of communication, it is pleasing to report all couples were still friends at the conclusion of play. Even Eric and Beth were still calling each other ‘love’.

The Club Mixed Foursome Champions for 2010 are fittingly Peter and Jeanette Elliott with rounds of 81, 77 for a total of 158.

The 2nd round of 77 - 7 ½ - 69 ½ was also good enough to win Ron Oakman’s trophies. Thanks Ron for the great trophies, the golfers appreciate your generosity.

Ball competition winners were Ron Page and Betty Grace 70 nett, Graham Williams and Val Kerrison 72 nett and Ian Clarke-Bruce and Maryanne Fitzgerald 73 ½ nett.

Last Saturday despite a fine afternoon, only eight men contested a stableford event for Ian and Kate Kinlyside’s trophy.

Darrell Cassidy’s 39 points was the best score returned, with balls going to Kevin Hoppe 37 points and Peter Steinke 35 points.

The midweek 12 hole stableford competition field suffered at the hands of mother nature, with only seven rounds played. Allan Hill’s 31 points would probably still have won even if 70 rounds were played. Well done Al, a great score.

This coming weekend the ladies July monthly medal and putting competition will be contested on Saturday for Robyn Chard’s trophy. In conjunction the 4th round of WGNSW medal will be played for. On Sunday the ladies play an individual stroke for a club trophy.

Next Sunday the men will play an individual stroke for Tam Kennedy’s trophy. The semi finalists for the Dempster Cup, Ron Fuller Snr Vs Kevin Hoppe and Chris Hocking Vs Tam Kennedy are reminded their matches must be completed by Sunday.

At a meeting of the SWDGA last Sunday morning it was decided to change the Scott Fuller Shield to a medley 4BBB stableford event. The first round this year is at Harden on December 5.

Our opponents are Tumut and Cootamundra, so organise partners and let’s turn out in force.
