ZORRO used to raise his cap when he hit 50. This time is not with the flashing willow, but after feeling jubilant on receiving 50 Christmas cards this year from you, the readers.
Thanks for responding in such a fine fashion.
Lolita put the finishing touches on the year with the Christmas column. She attempted a few predictions on football for 2012 while my back was turned. Manly are the silver-spoon lot; they have as much chance of coming last as Black Cavier.

My bumbling mate Garcia tells that the Heinz company, which sells Heinz tomato sauce, has closed in Australia. It will be relocated in New Zealand. Garcia believes they will be successful over there, given a fair shake of the sauce bottle.
And before I forget, thanks also to the little old lady for the Christmas pudding, those who sent me a scratchy and Darrell-Lea hazel nut and honey chocolates. And the six-pack of VB was great.
While on the festive season, older residents cast your minds back to the 1960s and 1970s. Remember on the verandah on 122 Clark Street, the home of Ted and Dolly Aggaet, there was displayed a life-size Santa Claus who had a roped attached so that one arm used to wave to passers by.

This column of Zorro has been an added attraction in the Harden Murrumburrah Express for ages. But Zorro, officially, you may or may not have known, first appeared in the story of the Curse of Capastrano in 1919.
Sixty five Zorro adventures were written, 70 movie productions and six tv series starring the caped and masked crusader. In 1920 Douglas Fairbanks was the first to play the Masked Hero on the screen. Zorro inspired the masked crime fighters such as the Lone Ranger and Batman. Just thought I’d throw that in.

In local cricket, Harden’s 20Twenty match set down for last Friday under lights was washed out on Fisher Park in Cootamundra. The draw catapulted Harden into the semi-final.
On Saturday it was the Merrin Cup proper on the picturesque Barry Grace Oval in Wallendbeen. After winning the toss the ‘Been boys batted and began briskly, but collapsed to be all out for just 79 runs. Harden polished off the target for a win, but not before losing eight wickets.
Captain courageous Rob Barron will wed the lovely Sonya this weekend and we wish them all the best.
