It seems that Harden’s, Will and Sandra Weston were always destined to achieve great heights in the sport of Polocrosse. Both have grown up with horses and both have played Polocrosse from an early age. They first met each other when they were kids whilst watching their dads play polocrosse with Sandra’s dad Doug Webb playing for the Tumut side often coming up against John Weston playing for the Jugiong side.
Sandra still plays with her family in the Tumut side and Will for the formidable Jugiong side. Last year they were both chosen for the South West Slopes Zone side to compete against other zones from all over New South Wales. Their success in the Zone competitions saw them both selected to represent NSW in the Nationals with Will playing for the men’s side (with his brother Todd) and Sandra playing for the women’s or mixed sides.
The Nationals were held in Camden, Sydney in October last year and involved some tough competition for the NSW crew from the state sides of Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory. Both Will and Sandra again played exceptionally well and Sandra was awarded lady player of the Nationals and also picked up the horse of the carnival award for her steed. Will’s side proved far too good for the competition and remained undefeated.
