Harden Merrin Cup side secured a grand final berth defeating Cootamundra’s Central Hotel winning by 35 runs at Albert Park last Saturday.
The wonderful win moves the side through to its third consecutive grand final, to be played in a best of three series from next Saturday against Big O, who already had their finals spot sewn up.
The semi final between Harden and Central was hard fought and played under hot and humid conditions with the ball dominating over the bat.
Harden were bowled out in the 39th over for 118, however they then went on to rout the youthful Central side for 83.
Sundries were a handy contributor in Harden’s score, Central’s bowlers adding 30 to the Harden score in the form of 20 wides and 10 no balls.
Former NSW Country cricketer Simon Doolan top scored for Harden with 19 while Rob Barron made 16.
Best with the ball for Central was their skipper Adam Twyford.
The man who seldom bowls with his medium pacers captured 4 for 13.
When Harden took to the field they were very determined.
With storm clouds looming, they knew that once they bowled 20 overs, the match was going to see someone through to the grand final on run rate should the weather intervene.
However the rain stayed away for the entire match.
An inspirational bowling spell by Tom O’Brien saw the tall quick capture 4 for 20 from his 10 overs and Matt Schofield snared 3 for 11 off only 5 overs.
Matt’s first three overs saw him take a wicket in each and after a fourth over where he only conceded two runs his final over was a maiden ending a terrific spell.
