It may have taken longer than originally planned, but the highly anticipated first stage of the Harden and Districts War Memorial Swimming Pool renovation project is now finally complete.
The Harden Shire outdoor staff have been working hard this week filling the pool (which took 6 1/2 days), and putting the finishing touches in place for the grand re-opening this Friday.
After much debate on whether or not to open the pool at all this season, Council has decided to throw the turnstiles open this Friday for everyone to see the completed project.
There will be free entry for the re-opening on Friday and festivities include a free sausage sizzle manned by the swimming club. The kids will also be in for a special treat with a large inflatable slide to be set up in the revamped pool.
The pool is likely to remain open for at least three weeks although this may change depending on the weather. New hours for the pool will be 2pm until 7pm on weekdays and 11am until 6pm on the weekends. As with previous years, the pool will close earlier than these times if the weather is not suitable or if no one is swimming. Admission charges for the short season will be, Children and Pensioners $2.50, Adults $3.50 and Families $10.
The festivities for the reopening on Friday will kick off at around 6pm, and will finish around 8:30 - 9pm and with the weather predicted to be a mostly sunny 24 degrees it will hopefully be warm enough for locals to take the plunge.
