10 Jun, 2010 07:24 AM
A young male driver was lucky to escape any serious injuries after he rolled his vehicle on the Jugiong Road on Friday night.

The young male in his early 20’s was travelling south on the Jugiong Road when he lost control of his vehicle rolling down a 15 metre embankment.

The vehicle landed on its roof and was wedged in amongst trees.

Fortunately the driver was able to free himself from the wreckage. He then walked along the road for around 300m before flagging down a passing motorist who called 000.

Harden Fire Brigade and ambulance crews were first to arrive on scene after being called to the accident at about 9.30pm.

Also attending the accident were Harden Police and the Demondrille Rural Fire Service.

The driver, who was the only occupant of the car, was taken to hospital via ambulance with only minor injuries.

Fire crews continued to help in the clean up and recovery of the vehicle until 1.30am.

Once again Harden police are urging drivers to slow down in the lead up to the Queens Birthday long weekend this coming weekend with double demerit points in place from midnight tonight until midnight on Monday night.

Police are encouraging drivers to be conscious of the speed limit and road conditions to that of which they are driving.

Over the last weekend, Police have detected numerous traffic related offences on the Roads within the local command, with one person detected at 30km over the speed limit and another at 20km over the speed limit on the Lachlan Valley Way. Three people were also charged with PCA related offences in Cootamundra, Wombat and Tumut.
