Funding for local Landcare projects

13 Jan, 2012 09:01 AM
TWO district Landcare groups have received funding under the Murrumbidgee Catchment Management Authority’s 2011/12 Community Partnerships program.

Twenty-three different projects across the Murrumbidgee catchment have been awarded Community Partnership grants totalling more than $300,000 by the Murrumbidgee CMA.

The Harden Murrumburrah Landcare Group has received $18,265 for a project that will investigate the Precision Agriculture method of pH testing and total carbon testing and propose to validate the system for use as a cheaper method of soil testing and understanding paddock variability.

The project will be conducted in the Jugiong Creek Catchment.

The Binalong Landcare, a subgroup of Harden Murrumburrah Landcare Group, has received $17,750 to analyse the carbon dynamics in the Binalong Landcare district as an natural resource management tool for mitigating change, boosting ecological sustainability and increasing the economic productivity of the region.

The funding support for the Community Partnerships Project is provided by the Australian and NSW Governments through Caring for Our Country and Catchment Action NSW.
