Recognised for his long time service and dedication to the community of Harden Murrumburrah Doctor Yusuf Khalfan was presented with a special Australia Day Award.
On holidays last week Dr Khalfan was unable to accept his prestigious award at the annual Australia Day Ceremony in Newson Park so was presented with his framed certificate on Monday.
Mayor Chris Manchester, general manager Max Kershaw along with hospital staff and committee members were on hand at his surgery in East Street to formally present and congratulate him on this outstanding achievement.
“Dr Khalfan has made a significant contribution to healthcare in Harden Murrumburrah for well over 30 years,” Cr Manchester said.
“Without his commitment and dedication to fighting for healthcare and community services, Harden Murrumburrah would have lost many valuable services.”
Humbled at being recognised for his long-time service to the community and by being given this impressive award Dr Khalfan thanked not only the Harden Murrumburrah residents but hospital staff who had given him their ongoing support over these years.
“I’d like to take the opportunity to thank the residents of Harden Murrumburrah in rewarding me with this award, which I’m very humbled to receive,” he said.
“I’ve given this sort of commitment for my own fulfillment rather than for the recognition.
“I have enjoyed the time in this community and will keep committing to the community of Harden Murrumburrah.”
