Bendigo backs Jugiong brigade

26 Jan, 2012 03:15 PM
THE Jugiong Volunteer Bushfire Brigade has received $4,000 sponsorship from the Harden Murrumburrah Bendigo Bank to help it cover the cost of buying and equipping a catering trailer for use during fires and at local community events.

Harden Bendigo bank manager Ralph Hawkins said that as the Bendigo Bank was a community bank it had a policy of investing in community infrastructure.

He said that under the bank’s structure it had a policy of investing 80 per cent of its profits back into the community it served by sponsoring community infrastructure.

In the five years the bank had been established in the town it had sponsored some 16 organisations.

Mr Hawkins and bank director and deputy chairman of the board of directors Hugh Pavitt presented the brigade with the sponsorship last week.

The funds have been used to purchase a heavy-duty seven by four trailer which has been equipped with a gas barbecue, a sink for washing up, a three kilowatt generator for lighting

Brigade secretary Jim Grange said local community which had contributed to meeting the cost of the trailer would be able to use it for their events.
