Australia Day book launch

20 Jan, 2012 11:58 AM
Robyn Atherton, president of the Harden Murrumburrah Historical Society, has found that there was more to the man, Arthur James Newson, than just the name of a park in Harden.

Arthur James Newson, affectionately referred to as A J, was a pioneer of the New South Wales, and an advocate of irrigation leading to the present day schemes in the Riverina districts. He was a man of influence, energy and passion with agricultural, political and civic endeavours recorded.

Robyn's will be launching her latest book on the life of the AJ Newson at the Harden Murrumburrah Australia Day celebrations in Newson Park.

She says this publication provides a record of the legacy of A J Newson for the communities of Harden-Murrumburrah, Leeton, Whitton, Narrandera and Griffith and provides a small window into the lives of his family.
