The transformer, which had come from Port Kembla on Saturday morning, was expected to reach Wallerawang today, Thursday.
Norm Bridge, transport supervisor from Megalift, a subsidiary of Lampson Australia, said the company specialised in moving heavy equipment and that the transformer was not the biggest piece of equipment the company had moved.
The transformer was transported by five tow trucks, with three in the front and two at the rear.
In total, Mr Bridge, said the transformer, trailer and two trucks weighed some 520 tonnes and was 108 metres in length.
The transformer was accompanied on its journey by a three-car police escot and three pilot vehicles.
